About Web 2.0 Tools

A curated, open directory of the best browser-based tools for education, creativity and collaboration.

What is this site?

Web 2.0 Tools is a free directory that helps teachers, students and creators discover the right tool for the job. Every tool in our catalog runs in a web browser — no installation required — and is organized by category and use case so you can filter to exactly what you need.

Why Web 2.0?

The term "Web 2.0" describes the generation of online tools that shifted the web from static pages to interactive, collaborative platforms. Tools like Canva, Miro, Kahoot!, Scratch and Padlet are Web 2.0 at its best: accessible, shareable and designed for participation rather than passive consumption. These tools have transformed how classrooms, teams and individuals work — and new ones keep appearing every week.

Who is it for?
How are tools selected?

Every tool is manually reviewed before being added. We look for tools that are genuinely useful, actively maintained, and accessible — meaning they have a meaningful free tier or are completely free. We note pricing clearly (Free / Freemium / Paid) and flag multi-language support where relevant.

How can I contribute?
